Glamorous Uniformity: A Luxurious Residence by Jung Chi Hsu

Creating Elegance Through Uniformity and Simplicity

The designer, Jung Chi Hsu, emphasizes on uniformity and simplicity in the structural outlines and texture selection of the Glamorous Uniformity residence. This design showcases a sense of elegance without being lavishly extravagant, integrating both bold and soft materials to represent the perfect blend of two different characteristics and preferences.

The entrance of the house sets the tone for the entire design. A dark metal wall of cabinets extends from the left, reaching up to the ceiling along the aisle, creating a sense of flow across all major sections of the home. Embedded in the middle of the metal wall is a white marble niche, adding a noble touch and serving as a teaser to the main character of the home: the luxurious white marble kitchen island.

The public areas of the residence feature walls in a lighter beige tone, connected to the bright shades of floor tiles. The wallpaper and cabinets are adorned with fabric textures, in coherence with the grand fabric curtains, enhancing the sense of uniformity in the overall design.

The Glamorous Uniformity residence showcases unique properties that set it apart from others. The use of Japanese HDP High-Density Printing metal plates, melanin boards, white marble stone, modular cabinets with fabric textures, fabric texture wallpaper, black mirrors, and polished quartz floor tiles contribute to its distinctive aesthetic.

With a total area of approximately 81 square meters, the original layout of the residence underwent significant changes. Two standard bedrooms were combined to create a sizable master bedroom with a dressing room. The previously separated kitchen and dining room were transformed into a spacious open kitchen and dining hall, optimizing functionality in the limited space.

The design team behind Glamorous Uniformity prioritized environmental awareness in their material selection. Wooden materials were chosen from manufacturers with tree replanting plans, and the cabinets were made of low formaldehyde materials. LED lighting was selected for its energy-saving nature, hanging above the dining table to create a spacious atmosphere and serve as a visual attraction.

The Glamorous Uniformity project was completed in August 2010 in Taichung, Taiwan. The underlying research for this design focused on the concept of the resident as the main character and the space as the supporting role. By rearranging the existing layout and blending it with the life visions of the young couple, the designer gave the space a new definition.

Overcoming the limitations of modular cabinets in terms of workmanship and surface material selection was a challenge in the realization of this design. The combination of modular furniture with carpentry woodwork allowed for the use of metallic texture High Definition Printing wooden boards as surfaces, adding both maintainability and exquisite appearance to the furniture.

The Glamorous Uniformity residence is a testament to the designer's vision of creating a low-key and simply luxurious space. The contrast of warm and cold colors, the integration of a mysterious black mirror surface, cold white stone, and soft fabric wallpaper all contribute to the overall atmosphere of the design.

This exceptional design, created by Jung Chi Hsu, was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This award recognizes designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
